My first part of this series of free startup ideas received a good response, in terms of page views. Like I promised, here is my part 2.
Idea #3 Community based localized deals
By deals, I am not just talking about online deals. The deals/seasonal sale/discounts/offers offered by retail shops, outlets. Usually you will find them through billboards, banners or as a small printout in the shops. Make it easy for people to submit deals – sms/email/IM. Also make it easy for people to get customized deal alerts again by email/sms/IM. As usual have a separate section for retailers to directly submit their deal (Sponsored listing). Community features like voting, tagging, reviews etc.
Idea #4 Travel suggestion using public transports
I have always wanted to know things like how to go to Pattabiram from Pallavaram. How to reach J.P Nagar 2nd phase from Bangalore Railway Station (One such attempt here). You could suggest a combination of both bus and train routes, along with timings. While Yahoo Maps India, attempts to give you a basic driving direction, it has to improve a lot still. Why not attempt this?

(4) 90di is interesting but not definitely comprehensive. Take the “Pallavaram to Pattibiram” as an example. Me and Prashanth found a site sometime back that did this. It was a hobby project by an Indian in the US. Cant seem to remember the site though.
