SanskritVoice – An effort to revive the age old language

Sanskrit-Voice is an attempt by a US-based Sanskrit enthusiast Seshu Karthick to revive this language. This site has been profiled recently in ndtv. A quick look at the site reveals that the site provides RSS feeds, Email Newsletters, Widgets to enable readers learn new words from this language. There were a number of efforts been made already in this area. Universities like Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha offer distant education for Sanskrit. Karthick Seshu is well known for his other ventures like Stuff-a-Blog, Saywit. 

This post is made based on his personal request. Here is my two cents for Karthick to make this idea become successful and more usable.

• Offline teaching is a key. So identify all possible institutes, Centres, Universities offering Sanskrit course. Get the email address of those who pursue the course and make them join your group and build the number of resources available in Sanskrit.
• Try to attract Hindi-loving junta. There are a number of websites offering contents in Hindi. Infact, Search engines and even IM services offer Hindi Version. Try to convince these publishers to write contents in Sanskrit, using the group that you have just created. Once you can get some biggie to write content in Sanskrit, then you will automatically see all others following the style.
• How easy/difficult it is to write a translation website for hindi to sanskrit translation? Start a open source project for this. Looks like you have a good experience in writing api. A web service for this translation is a ideal step forward right?
• Don’t revert back, no matter whether you receive support or not!
